Project Operations Manager (Sydney, Australia)
Citola is looking for an experienced Project (Forestry) Operations Manager to join the executive management team and assist in managing the delivery and day-to-day operations of implementing Citola reforestation projects for the Australian Carbon Farming Initiative.
The main focus will be on:
- Managing the implementation of a large-scale reforestation program (up to 10,000 Ha per annum) including property, operational and contractual relationships;
- Work with the technical team in building/refining operational processes; and
- Communication with internal/external project stakeholders.
Candidates should have (Qualifications):
- 10+ years’ experience in forestry, project management, investment management or related field;
- Track record in the management of forestry, carbon or resource-based projects with a knowledge of forestry and (preferable) carbon markets;
- Experience (track record) for managing the implementation of a large-scale forestry program (up to 10,000 Ha per annum);
- Proven ability to identify tasks, resources and milestones required and manage the delivery of projects to achieve desired outcomes;
- Competency in the development and presentation of project collateral at executive level for internal and external project stakeholders; and
- BSc, MSc or PhD in Forestry, Environmental Sciences or other relevant qualification.

Forest Carbon Specialist (Sydney, Australia)
Citola is looking for a Forest Carbon Specialist to join the team and assist in the technical development of Citola’s carbon and environmental products and programs including reforestation, biodiversity and REDD.
Working with principles, staff and external consultants, the successful candidate will be responsible for the evaluation and technical development of Citola’s reforestation program for the Carbon Farming Initiative and Brazilian REDD program to achieve VCS validation, verification and registration.
Candidates should have (Qualifications):
- MSc or PhD in Forestry or other relevant technical qualification;
- Track record of identifying and delivering technical development tasks against project milestones, deadlines and budgets;
- Competency in proposal and technical report generation including Project Design Documentation, monitoring plans and Forest Management Plans; and
- Knowledge of Carbon Farming Initiative, Forestry and VCS methodologies and the validation/verification process (VCS, CCB).
Technical Proficiencies to Include:
- Carbon modelling using NCAT, CFI Reforestation tools or equivalent;
- Understanding of project development methodologies including site/species selection, sustainable land management, planting design, program management and carbon verification; and
- Understanding of Carbon Farming Initiative project proponent guidelines to project registration and achieve carbon issuance.
Desired (REDD) Proficiencies to Include:
- Activity identification, historical land-use change and drivers of deforestation analysis;
- Carbon assessments and baseline arguments including biomass inventory & forestry stock assessments, carbon stock gathering and stratification;
- Understanding/capacity for GIS and remote sensing analysis; and
- Operational and monitoring design and implementation.
