Planting Process
Site Selection
Sites are selected on properties with native timber qualities and, by default, exceptional carbon sequestration potential.
Project Design, Mapping
Projects are designed to methodologies approved by the Australian Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency and satisfy the additionality test under the Kyoto protocol ensuring flexibility for international carbon standards.
Seedling Propagation
Species selected are grown from seed predominantly derived from local, native and bio-diverse tree species.
Ground Preparation
Sites are prepared to maximise tree growth where planting lines will be ripped and mounded to aid root penetration and drainage.
Planting
Seedlings are planted according to Citola’s professional guidelines to maximise survival and risk resilience.
Management
Plantings are managed to maximise survival, growth and form. This ultimately optimises the health and success of the ecosystem and carbon sequestration potential.
Monitoring
An extensive monitoring program is initiated through permanent designated plots to monitor project growth and management requirements.
Verification
Projects are independently verified for carbon sequestration through onsite assessments including measurement (carbon yield) and assessment of management procedures.

Submit Expression of Interest
Landholders can register an Expression of Interest (EOI) by completing the EOI form and returning it to projects [at] citola.com. The EOI form provides to Citola the information required to assess the suitability of the property.
Spot Cultivation Example
Example of spot-cultivation planting using 'Potti Pukkis' on hilly terrain. Citola utilises rip-mounding ground preparation on large planting areas to increase the efficiency of planting and ensure optimum growing conditions for the trees.
