Citola Diversifies Carbon Offset Portfolio with Two Additional Projects
Citola is pleased to announce it has recently commenced participation in two carbon emission (CO2e) reduction projects in Brazil, enabling Citola to offer the carbon offsets originated at the projects to clients.
The projects involve fuel switching at a number of ceramic facilities located in Brazil. The production process at the facilities previously utilised fossil fuels (heavy oil) in powering their kilns. The projects have implemented a transition to biomass fuels, resulting in significant reduction in CO2e emissions. Both projects are validated to VCS and Social Carbon standards.
Angus MacNee, CEO of Citola, announced: “We’re thrilled to be working with these projects and to diversify our portfolio of carbon offsets that we can offer our clients and customers. Fuel switching is a new area for us, however, the benefits seen in the reduction of CO2e emissions from the biomass fuels are clear.”
The projects include:
- Arrozal, GGP & Sul America Ceramics Fuel Switching Project, Brazil
- Lara Ceramic Facility Fuel Switching Project, Brazil
