We’re passionate souls here at Citola. And most definitely not smug - well, we hope so, anyway.

Far be it from us, then, to say that we told you so. But the benefits of our basic offering – growing a smart mix of trees, creating a carbon sink with a timber and carbon-offset outcome – is really beginning to catch on. Lots and lots of people seem to be working out that the Citola model, essentially uncomplicated in conception, though sophisticated in execution, is really attractive.

The market in carbon offsets/permits/units is still very uneven. The failure to achieve a binding agreement at the COP15 summit in Copenhagen last December leaves the world with the existing markets for carbon offsets/permits/units and their exchange.

In case you hadn’t noticed, there’s a propaganda war going on in the environmental space. It seems that each news report or research paper is seized upon and used by the pro- or anti- side of the great conservation debate.

The latest thing to get kicked about in this arena is a report by the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization, which brings good news – or maybe bad, depending on how you interpret it.

Our London team is pleased to welcome Citola CEO Angus MacNee to the UK. Angus is over in Europe for a couple of weeks, and will be meeting with a number of significant investors who take in interest in the environmental space.

We’re very excited by the enthusiastic response to the Citola business proposition. The two carbon-reduction projects we’ve just announced at Citola – and by which we’re very excited – represent a broadening of what we do, and the way we make a difference. There’s the forestry-generated aspect of creating carbon offsets, in which we’re very much ahead of the curve, and there’s the route of finding more and more efficient forms of energy generation and consumption.
